Professional Experience

Colin Quinn Commito is a graduate of the John Marshall Law School, where he earned a Juris Doctorate (J.D.) and a Masters of Law Degree (LL.M.) in International Trade and Finance. After graduating law school, Mr. Commito worked as an associate with the the law firm of Luther Franklin Spence & Associates on the West Side of Chicago in Maywood, Illinois. Acting as associate trial counsel for Luther Spence, Mr. Commito litigated cases in multiple counties across the State of Illinois. Mr. Commito’s litigation experience is significant and varied, including trials, settlements and appeals.

Mr. Commito’s criminal litigation experience includes criminal offenses of aggravated battery, reckless homicide, aggravated discharge of a weapon, aggravated unlawful use of weapons, aggravated criminal sexual assault, D.U.I. death, felony theft, aggravated driving under the influence, first degree and felony murder. Mr. Commito has litigated civil cases in Illinois that includes divorce, parentage fraud, trustee and successor trustee liability, breach of fiduciary duties, breach of contract and restrictive covenants, adverse possession, foreclosure, administrative review actions under the Illinois Video Gaming Act and Illinois School Code and trademark cancellations before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board.

Notably, Mr. Commito convinced the Illinois Appellate Court, First District, First Division to vacate six first degree murder charges against defendant Cordelrow Brown as violative of the double jeopardy clause of the United States and Illinois Constitutions. Cordelrow Brown)  Before the Illinois Appellate Court, first District, Fifth Division, Mr. commito successfully defended the appellee in case where the appellant contested an amendment to an inter vivios trust appointing Commito’s client as successor trustee. (see McCarthy v. Reynolds)

Prior to attending law school, Mr. Commito graduated from the University of Redlands with a double degree in government and classical piano performance. Mr. Commito is also a professional skateboarder who serves the legal interests of the skateboard community through his website:
